Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) – Health Care and Dependent Care
The County offers both a Health Care Flexible Spending Account and a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.
Both enable you to save Federal, state, and Social Security (FICA) taxes on money you use to pay for qualified health care and dependent care expenses by directing part of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, into accounts that can be used throughout the year to pay for qualified health care or dependent care expenses.
There are limitations on who may participate in Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts. If you are enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA), you are not eligible to participate in a Health Care FSA.
All employees may participate in the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.
