PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives)

Overview & Additional Resources

The Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives (PEARLS) engages older adults to support them becoming more proactive in their lives, utilizing programs and resources in our community. PEARLS is designed to break down the barriers that prevent older adults from seeking help when they need comfort and support. PEARLS is a free, short-term program (between four to five months) with the option to return should a need arise. It is open to participants aged 60 or older in Stanislaus County.

PEARLS focuses on reactivating and improving quality of life by breaking down barriers to combat social isolation and loneliness, maneuvering around the many obstacles of aging. PEARLS-trained Coaches can assist in problem solving, activity planning, and connections to opportunities in our community to redirect participants to a more positive growth mindset. Coordinating within the Stanislaus County Area Agency on Aging, PEARLS Coaches have a unique opportunity to connect participants to a variety of services to maintain independence. PEARLS Coaches have flexibility to meet participants wherever they find most convenient, whether it be in participant homes, out in the community, or at the program office. PEARLS Coaches aim to empower participants to develop skills to live happier and healthier lives.

Our promise: We implement a “no wrong door” approach ensuring no participant will be left without assistance. Referrals will be evaluated to connect our clients to the services or programs that are most appropriate and beneficial for them in their current circumstance. If our program is not the best fit, our staff will help guide and refer them to other programs/services that are available in Stanislaus County.

Funding: PEARLS is funded through the California Mental Health Services Act. The Stanislaus County Department of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services awarded the Area Agency on Aging with this funding specifically for older adult Prevention & Early Intervention services.
