Stanislaus County Medi-Cal Behavioral Health Services
Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is the County’s designated Behavioral Health Plan and serves as the Medi-Cal specialty behavioral health provider for Stanislaus County. BHRS ensures that eligible Medi-Cal beneficiaries have access to medically necessary mental health and substance use disorder treatment services.
BHRS provides and coordinates a comprehensive continuum of specialty behavioral health services designed to support recovery, stability, and overall wellness. Services are delivered through county-operated programs and contracted community providers throughout Stanislaus County and are organized to meet the needs of adults, children, youth, and individuals experiencing substance use disorders.
Treatment Services Include:
- Mental Health and Substance Use Assessments
- Counseling and Therapy For Individuals and Families
- Medication Services and Psychiatric Care
- Crisis Support and Urgent Care Services
- Outpatient Treatment Programs
- Residential and Inpatient Treatment Services
- Care Coordination and Case Management
- Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Support
Services are provided based on medical necessity and eligibility criteria established under the Medi-Cal program. Behavioral health treatment services are organized and delivered through three coordinated Systems of Care:
- Adult System of Care
- Children and Transitional Age Youth System of Care
- Substance Use Treatment System of Care
How to Access Services
To request services or schedule an assessment, please contact the Medi-Cal Access Line: 1-888-376-6246.
The Access Line connects individuals and families to an initial screening and assessment to determine eligibility and the appropriate level of care. BHRS staff will guide you through the process and connect you to available treatment services.

Crisis Services
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services serves as Stanislaus County’s mental health crisis services provider for Medi-Cal beneficiaries and for all community members, regardless of Medi-Cal eligibility or ability to pay.
