Mary Hartsfield
Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
Mary Hartsfield began her role with Stanislaus County in January 2026 as Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, bringing with her a professional background that blends legal work, philanthropy, and executive-level support. In her current role, she supports the Board of Supervisors and works closely with County leadership, departments, and the public to ensure the transparency, accessibility, and integrity of the Board’s legislative processes.
Prior to joining the County, Mary built a career in higher education and nonprofit philanthropy, where she specialized in donor relations, foundation operations, and strategic community partnerships. Her work focused on connecting community leaders, alumni, and philanthropic partners with initiatives that strengthened healthcare, education, opportunity, and regional collaboration.
A native Floridian, Mary, has called Stanislaus County home since 1998. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of West Florida.
Mary is the proud mother of one adult daughter, Jamie. She is also in a long-term relationship with George Regalo of Merced. Outside of work, Mary enjoys traveling, listening to live music, painting, reading, and spending time with the incredible circle of friends who enrich her life. Mary often shares that Stanislaus County has been very good to her, and she considers it both an honor and a privilege to serve the community she has called home for nearly three decades.
