Jose Michel
Director
Jose Michel has been serving as the Aging and Veterans Services Director since June 2, 2025. He brings more than 25 years of experience in social services, specializing in the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities. Jose holds two master’s degrees: one in Social Work from Boston University and another in Gerontology from National University, San Diego.
Jose began his Stanislaus County career in 1997 as a Social Worker with the Community Services Agency, supporting the Adult Protective Services and In-Home Supportive Services programs. After a brief period outside of County service, he held positions with the Health Plan of San Joaquin in managed care and as a Dementia Care Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Association. He returned to Stanislaus County in 2020, serving in a senior management role where he continued his commitment to the older adult population.
Jose is committed to ensuring our aging and veteran populations receive the highest level of care, support, and recognition. His leadership, dedication to public service, and passion for improving the quality of life for older adults and veterans guide his work as Director.
