We recognize that discussions about water supply can be concerning for residents and property owners in the Diablo Grande community. Stanislaus County is aware of the ongoing dispute between the Kern County Water Agency (KWA) and the Western Hills Water District (WHWD).
Western Hills Water District is a separate and independent public agency. Stanislaus County does not provide retail water service and is not involved in the operation or management of the District’s water supply.
As the water system owner and operator, Western Hills Water District is responsible for securing and maintaining a reliable water source for its customers, including identifying and implementing alternative supply options as needed and communicating directly with customers. Responsibility for securing and implementing a stable water supply rests with the water system owner and operator.
Western Hills Water District has adopted an Emergency Water Conservation Plan outlining how the District plans to respond to supply interruptions and conservation needs. The plan is available here for review.
For questions regarding the dispute, current developments, or water service planning, please contact Western Hills Water District or Kern County Water Agency directly.
