About Us

The Environmental Resources Department provides solid waste management services as follows:

Administration and enforcement of the Refuse Control Ordinance;
Administration of the four refuse collection agreements for the unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County;
Permitting of refuse collectors, recycling facilities, and food processing by-product use sites;
- New Permit Application Packet for by-product use
- Permit Renewal Application Packet for by-product use
Administration and enforcement of the Food Processing By-product Ordinance Codes;
Administration of the Service Agreement with Covanta Energy for operation of the Stanislaus Resource Recovery Facility, and energy-from-waste project;
Preparation and updating of the County-wide Integrated Waste Management Plan for the County and its nine cities;
Providing educational resources and outreach materials to the public promoting source reduction, reuse, and recycling;
Promotion of beverage container and waste motor oil recycling;
Enforcement of the California Tire Recycling Act;
Administration of the Stanislaus County Recycling Market Development Zone program.
