La Grange California

BRIEF HISTORY

La Grange is an 1849 mining town on the Tuolumne River, with large dredgers still mining gold in the area. Cattle-raising in surrounding land. First called "French Bar" in honor of the many French miners who located here in the gold rush days. The name, La Grange, was assigned in honor of General La Grange of France. (Joseph Burton Vasche)
