Geographic Information Services

SBT provides support for Geographic Information Service (GIS) on behalf of County departments. GIS provides much needed functionality in matching geographic information to customer data in order to understand and manage these co-relations. By filling in the information gaps in relating real-world geography to statistical information, the County can better plan and otherwise improve staff effectiveness and reduce costs.The SBT GIS solution will be able to help such agencies as the Office of Emergency Services streamline the geographic component of their duties.SBT provides this vital need in support of the Chief Executive Office and other agencies of Stanislaus County.

SBT’s Geographic Information Service can be used to link data from law enforcement, fire departments, schools, hospitals, and community service components. Nearly any County service provider’s data can be put into a geographic context to facilitate a greater understanding of trends and inter-relationships. SBT provides secure access to GIS data and works with County departments to implement GIS layers representing their business data.

SBT is dedicated to constant improvement.SBT is researching methods to provide critical GIS data replication in conjunction with its Business Continuity efforts.

Electronic Data Management Services

SBT supports an Electronic Data Management (EDM) service on behalf of County departments. EDM will provide much needed document organization and collaboration functionality to improve staff effectiveness and reduce costs. Industry analyst IDC estimates that Fortune 500 companies lose $12 billion each year because they are unable to adequately manage and exploit unstructured document content.

By implementing this EDM solution, County departments will be able to streamline document management and sharing and implement new collaboration solutions. Stanislaus County SBT is uniquely qualified to provide this service due to our mix of skilled Systems Engineers, veteran development staff, expert database administrators, and customer-focused Help Desk staff.

Website Redesign

In an effort to update the County's web presence as well as integrate newer technologies and services, SBT has led the development of a new Stanislaus County Web presence, which will launch at the beginning of November 2007. The focus of this effort, with the support of most county departments and divisions, will focus on opportunities to idealize the benefits of emerging technologies to extend and expand the ability of government to provide information and services to County residents, businesses, civic groups and other interested parties.

E–Government projects, through the County website, will significantly enhance the availability of County government information and/or services to a broad segment of the public through information technologies that require limited staff intervention. Taking into consideration the overall strategy to ensure inclusion of all County residents, whether or not they have a PC and modem.

Benefits of this work include providing Internet services, which will enhance the service that is provided to our customers. It will provide an additional means for serving our customers; based on current technology it will improve business processes, response times, and quality of service while increasing capability without proportionally increasing costs or liabilities.
