Airport Land Use Commission
  • Airport Land Use Commission

  • In Stanislaus County the Planning Commission, with the addition of two other members with expertise in aviation, was appointed to act as the Stanislaus County Airport Land Use Commission on December 1, 1970, by the City-County Committee and the Board of Supervisors at a joint meeting.

  • The Commission has the powers and duty to:
     
  1. Study conditions and make recommendations concerning the need for height restrictions on buildings near airports.

  2. Make recommendations for the use of the land surrounding airports to assure safety of air navigation and the promotion of air commerce.

  3. Hold public hearings and make findings of fact which would be advisory only to the involved jurisdiction.

  4. Make and enforce rules and regulations for the orderly and fair conduct of such hearing, which shall conform as nearly as possible to the provisions applicable to hearings conducted by local agency formation commissions.

  5. Achieve by zoning compatible land use in the vicinity of all new airports and in the vicinity of existing airports.
  • The Commission will and has formulated a comprehensive land use plan that will provide for the orderly growth of each public airport and the area surrounding the airport within the jurisdiction of the Commission.

  • A Conflict of Interest Code for the Airport Land Use Commission was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on December 16, 2003.

  • Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of meetings were adopted by the Board of Supervisors on September 23, 2003.
