What is Stanislaus County Children's Council?

The Stanislaus Children's Council is a working group of professionals and community members dedicated to fostering collaboration and creating effective services for children and their families. The purpose of the Council is to advocate for and support the interests of all children and families. The Council was appointed by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors in February 1992.

Mission

The purpose of the Council is advocate for and support the interests of all children and families.

Philosophy

We the undersigned affirm our commitment to advocacy on behalf of children as well as collaborative service planning and delivery in order to provide the highest quality services possible to children and families in Stanislaus County. Our highest priority is the safety, health, and well-being of children.

  1. The best hope for children is healthy families: therefore,We are committed to establishing and reinforcing the family as the focus of services, and we are committed to supporting the capacities and internal strengths of families within their community.
  2. A climate of mutual trust and understanding is essential for collaboration; therefore, we are committed to fostering, supporting, and strengthening each agency and organization as we work cooperatively to plan and deliver services, and we are committed to open communication between and training of all participants.
  3. A diversity of cultures exist in Stanislaus County; thus, we are committed to developing a culturally competent staff and service system, and we are committed to involving a diversity of people in our planning process.
  4. Not all children and families have access to needed resources; therefore, we are committed to identifying and reducing barriers for families who need resources and services.
  5. All agencies and organizations have limited resources to meet service demands; therefore, we are committed to identifying the best use of resources to meet the needs of children and families, and promoting the cost-effectiveness of services to children.
  6. Healthy families thrive on caring communities; therefore, we are committed to developing strong communities by building on their existing strengths, and providing a forum for discussion of issues which impact the healthy development of children and families.
