What is the Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) program?

The RMDZ program is a partnership of local government and the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), created to provide incentives to businesses that divert materials from landfilling and incorporate those materials into their manufacturing process.  To participate within the Stanislaus County Zone, the business must be located in Stanislaus County.

What projects are eligible for Zone assistance?

A project must directly prevent or reduce the generation of waste in manufacturing, or process waste for use as a raw material in manufacturing, or make products out of recycled materials.

Who qualifies for Zone incentives?

  • Firms establishing a new business within Stanislaus County
  • Existing businesses relocating to facilities within Stanislaus County
  • Existing businesses already located within Stanislaus County intending to expand

Services and Incentives Offered

  • Identification of funding sources, including CIWMB grants
  • Low interest loans (currently at 4% as of January 2009)
  • Permit streamlining
  • Assistance with locating a site or property for business startup or relocation
  • Product marketing
  • Market research
  • Search for local feedstock materials
  • Technical assistance
  • Promote your products through RecycleStore.com

The Stanislaus County RMDZ provides assistance to businesses that use post-consumer wastes to manufacture new products.
