"Green Purchasing" makes Stanislaus County an environmentally friendlier consumer.

• Moving Forward – Stanislaus County continues to move forward with their "Green Purchasing" initiative to protect the environment while promoting source reduction, reuse and recycling.
• Support Recycling – The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors encourages County departments to increase their use of products that are safer and better for the environment. Purchasing products that contain recycled content such as copy paper; letterhead, folders and print cartridges are ways to support the Green Purchasing program by reducing resource consumption.
• Prevent and Protect – Also, increased use of energy-efficient products and replacing hazardous products with less hazardous alternatives when possible are additional ways to prevent pollution and protect public health.
• Nationwide Trend – The County's program is part of a growing nationwide trend among local, state and federal agencies to reduce pollution, protect public health, and support recycling through modified public purchasing practices.
• Environmentally Responsible – Because local and state government, combined, purchase more than $1 trillion of goods and services each year, County environmental purchasing initiatives have a significant affect on the growth of environmentally responsible product markets.
• Protecting Integrity – County leaders are finding that the environmental benefits to switching to more environmentally preferable products, specifically those that contain recycled content, are well worth the effort. Green Purchasing is a practical step for our County to take as we work to protect the integrity of our local and regional environmental resources.
