The County Auditor-Controller is the chief financial officer of the County. The Auditor is an elected official whose principal duties are defined in the various codes; as controller, is an appointed official whose operations are determined by the policy set by the Board of Supervisors and duties defined by State code.
Basic responsibilities include:
- Prescribe and exercise general supervision over the accounting forms and method of keeping the accounts of all offices, departments, and institutions under control of the Board of Supervisors and of all districts whose funds are kept in the County Treasury.
- Maintain all basic accounting reports, supply information and formulate appropriate recommendations relating to the County’s financial condition.
The Administration Division is responsible for the department’s budget, policy and personnel issues, as well as oversight, administration and management of all functions performed by this office. The division is also responsible for administration of the SB 90 contracts. The department employs a staff of 46, organized within the following divisions, which assist and support the Auditor-Controller in his duties:
